Are there any specials for first-time students?

You're in luck! First-time students are eligible for a special $49 Introductory Private Lesson -- the ideal first step in your Firebeat journey. This 30-minute lesson is tailored specifically to YOU, allowing you to experience our studio at own pace, under the guidance of one of our expert instructors. Following your lesson, your instructor will offer personalized recommendations and next steps to help you reach your dance goals. No matter your reason for wanting to learn to dance -- social, competitive, fitness, or wedding/event prep -- our Introductory Private Lesson is the best place to begin!

Sounds great! How do I register?

Please call the studio at 617-564-3473, or e-mail us at In your message, please specify the best days/times to reach you. A member of our team will get back to you within 24 hours.

What if I don't have a partner?

Not a problem! You don’t need a partner to enjoy ballroom dancing. In private lessons, you will dance with your instructor. Group classes are designed to maximize individual learning while providing opportunities to rotate partners and practice the same steps with different people.

What do I wear to my first lesson?

Whatever is most comfortable for you! Some students come straight from work in business or casual attire. Fitness attire is also appropriate, but please feel free to get in character and dress the part! Ladies may opt to wear heels and a mid-length sassy skirt for Latin classes, or full-length flowy skirts/pants for Ballroom classes. Gentlemen are welcome to wear slacks and dress shoes. We also carry a selection of high quality practice wear at our studio.

What if I want to invest in ballroom dance shoes?

We'd be happy to help you. If you are interested in Latin dance shoes, we carry a selection from Aida, handmade in Russia. In Latin dance, dancers wear heeled shoes with a suede bottom for the perfect balance of glide and grip. Women wear open-toed shoes with 2-3.5 inch heels, and men wear Latin shoes with a heel ranging from 1.5-2.5 inches. The heels help to place weight toward the front of the foot, which is essential for correct Latin technique.

Do you welcome LGBTQ couples?

With open arms. Love is love, and Firebeat is deeply committed to inclusivity and acceptance.
